Tootoomoo kicks off franchise expansion with established operator

London based pan-Asian concept Tootoomoo has signed a franchise agreement with Costa Coffee and Pizza Hut operator Soar Group, with the first opening taking place in North-West London later this year.

Founded in North London in 2012 by Philip McGuinness, Tootoomoo locations operate out of tech-powered brick and mortar restaurants with eat in, collection and a highly performing delivery model that has stood the test of a harrowing 2020. It thrives in the secondary high-streets of residential areas, the perfect outposts convenient for local diners, as well as the parade of drivers powering its expanding range of delivery only virtual brands sharing the same kitchens. These independent virtual brands are perfect for activating a dark kitchen or bolting on to an existing restaurant and are available to franchise through tinycloudkitchens.com.

Soar Group is the F&B vehicle of the Chagani family, who have been operating various restaurant businesses as well as multi-unit Costa Coffee and Pizza Hut franchises in North and West London for years.

McGuinness comments: “We are looking to grow in many ways as a business, and franchising is a big part of that. I am pleased to partner with Soar Group as they have the relevant food and franchise experience and they know their local market very well having operated there for many years. It is a great endorsement for our brand, which has been trading very strongly in the last few months.”

Omar Chagani of Soar Group points out: “We’re very excited to begin our partnership with Tootoomoo. A fantastic offering with a specialised focus in takeaway and delivery. Their trading performance over the last few months shows just how robust their model is. We look forward to opening our first restaurant later this year as part of a wider development agreement. In addition to the standard Tootoomoo restaurant format, we will be partnering with their subsidiary Tiny Cloud Kitchens to grow their dark kitchen model within the London area.”

Matteo Frigeri of Seeds Consulting, which has been retained by Tootoomoo to manage franchise recruitment, adds: “Tootoomoo is best placed to tap into current and future food trends in the restaurant and food delivery market: its agile business model allows it to drive substantial revenue from off-pitch locations with a clever use of digital marketing and technology in the operation, including its own delivery platform and driver app. Its food cost is extremely competitive and its back of house staff is fully-cross trained. No wonder potential returns are so good and we think this of a nation-wide opportunity for any qualified parties like Soar to come on board”.

About Tootoomoo

Restaurateur Phillip McGuinness looked to bring the flavour and vibrancy of Asian ‘shophouses’ to the streets of London when he launched Tootoomoo in 2012. Offering a healthy pan-Asian culinary experience to each of its local communities that friends and families could all enjoy, either in the restaurants or at home.

The name derives from an ancient Indonesian folk tale about a girl called Tootoomoo and her friend The Giant. Their friendship was forged through sharing good food and this ethos of bringing communities together to eat remains at the heart of every Tootoomoo.

Tootoomoo locations can be found in Islington, Crouch End, Highgate and Whetstone.
